Garage sale books
I’m a cool-weather person, so the prospect of summer weather isn’t that exciting to me. What I do look forward to this time of year is the beginning of garage sale season. This afternoon I went to the YMCA garage sale, and bought some books, including Dough Creations: Food to Folk Art and Better Homes and Gardens Family Room Projects You Can Build . (I have several other books of the Projects You Can Build series.) Both of these are from 1977, the same year as A New Look at Knitting. To me, the 1970’s stand as the golden era of craft books: exuberant exploration of the potential of every medium, with the results (nearly all hideous by non-70’s tastes) fully illustrated in color.
