MFH and I went to the State Fair on Saturday. The weather was great, not hot, not cold, not too sunny. The crowds weren’t too bad until later in the day. This is the third year that I’ve gone to the State Fair.
Sadly, the “I Belong in the Kitchen” T-shirt that MFH [...]

I’ve added Feministing.com to the “Ew, gross!” category, although I actually think “Supergross!” would be more appropriate. Anyway, they’re feminists, and not the kind of feminists that I like.
It turns out, though, that there is another Feministing blog, at Feministing.org, and it is one of the funniest things that I have read [...]

Here, finally, is Part II.
Some defects of the kitchen I’ve had to live with:
1. Refrigerator door opening the wrong way. I’ve had this problem in three different apartments. The worst was in a narrow “dead-end” style kitchen (blank wall at the end), with the refrigerator next to the wall, and [...]

Gas around here is $2.60 to $2.70 per gallon, but it’s still cheaper than milk. At least I think it is; we only use powdered milk from the discount store, which comes out at about $1.40 per gallon (when mixed; I usually just dump it straight into my tea or cocoa or whatever). [...]

Which means that my old suitcase is getting rained in for about the fifth time; it was banished outdoors after the cat used it as an emergency litter box. (Smart kitty.) My hope of salvaging it is waning.
I’ve been chugging through lots of projects around the house. One of the latest was [...]

When I was about 2, my grandma built herself a smaller house, and we moved into the “ancestral farmhouse.” She designed the kitchen in both houses.
Since then, I’ve lived in 8 apartments, and 3 houses, and have had to deal with some not-so-great kitchens. My former landlords could learn a lot [...]

I’ve added an “Ew, gross!” link category for blogs that I read, but heartily disagree with, such as the Ms. Magazine feminist blog, Ms. Musings. Read at your own risk.
Gratuitous feminism slam: No Social Security for pro-choicers! They’ve aborted away too much of the present and future taxpayer pool.
Small pro-feminism push [...]

I found these Reflections from a Former Feminist on Submission through the wonderful Ladies Against Feminism.
A quote:
That an abandoned and abused little girl would grow up to be a radical feminist, despising and mistrusting men and refusing to surrender control to a husband, a boss, or even a God – well, that’s no surprise! What’s [...]

I found this post from The Quietist through MaxedOutMama; well worth reading.

Moving: done. We moved our furniture ourselves, and friends helped us move our many, heavy boxes, down the stairs to the truck, and up the stairs to the house (which is well above street level). MFH and I were joking about being Frodo and Sam, dragging ourselves up Mount Doom. We [...]
