Ebenezer means “stone of help”, Samuel set up an Ebenezer stone in 1 Samuel 7:12:

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Jeshanah, and called its name Ebenezer; for he said, “Hitherto the Lord has helped us.”

Our Sunday school class is telling each other our Ebenezer stories–times when God has helped us through trouble. MFH and I will have our turns in a few weeks. It’s very encouraging to hear what God has done in others’ lives, especially from the older people who have a long experience of God. Also, we are becoming better acquainted with the people in our church.

I’m still trying to settle on which story I should tell–I have a handful of “spiritual markers” (as Henry Blackaby, who wrote Experiencing God, calls them) to choose from.
