Martha Stewart Apprentice

The Matchstick team finally won! After Martha reshuffled by appointing two project managers, and having them pick their teams. Jim, surprisingly, was chosen next-to-last, and Marcela was last. This meant that each team had one cook; the task was to design and sell salad dressing.

Jim’s loud, obnoxious sales strategy nearly got his team kicked out of the store. Leslie was pushing bottles of salad dressing on people who didn’t want them–abandoned bottles turned up all over the place. (If the customer is always right, perhaps they should be allowed to say “No, thanks”.) Jennifer chose to keep Jim selling, in hopes of winning the task, rather than pull him and do it herself. The strategy nearly worked: Primarius lost by $20 or so. Then Jennifer was booted for not being able to control Jim. Martha came up with some euphemisms for Jim’s personality: “aggressive”, “spontaneous”, “experimental”. She did eventually say that his behavior was inappropriate.

For the final conference room scene, Martha was wearing a blazer with a low-cut blouse, and a very short multistrand pearl necklace, more or less a choker. The distance between the bottom of the necklace and the top of the blouse was too great, and kind of bizarre; a medium-length necklace would have been much better.
