Martha Stewart Apprentice
You know your team’s in trouble when it makes Jim look sane and wise. The task was to design a billboard and public presentation for a new Tide product. The Matchstick team quickly came up with a concept (boxing), a character based on the product (who would box against various stains), and plans for a two-part presentation: the boxing match would draw attention, and street-level demonstrations would show off the product.
Primarius, on the other hand, never quite got their hands around a concept. Sarah, the project manager, ignored Jim’s pleas for them to focus on the product. Carrie, the official “second in command”, took over the accounting and did little else. Howie came up with the idea of boxing, but it was vetoed. So they ended up just standing in front of their billboard and yelling a lot. To no one’s surprise but Sarah’s, they were slaughtered by Matchstick. In the conference room, Martha told both Sarah and Carrie that they “just didn’t fit in”.
Matchstick’s reward was to have breakfast at Martha’s house. Seeing a little of the place, it looked like house arrest there wouldn’t be much of a punishment.
