Catching up with myself
It’s SNOWING!!!! We have about an inch so far. Fairly windy, though, so maybe it will blow through here too quickly to accumulate much on the ground.

Maxed Out Mama ties Proverbs 31 into her discussion of the patriarchy (!):
This vision of women as strong, industrious, directing businesses and investing money, beneficient, wise, unafraid and fundamentally ordering life is the vision of the matriarchy joined with the patriarchy. Perhaps MoDo is so hysterical about the Pope because this single passage from the Bible describes the life of most the women I know far better than all the scissors-carrying ranting neurotic victimhood pushers of the modern world.

MFH and I were talking about the end of Martha Stewart Apprentice, and who could be the next Apprentice mogul. “Bill Gates!” I said, and MFH instantly went off into geeky visions of the tasks Bill Gates might concoct.

My NaNoWriMo novel is going well (except that I want to throw out almost everything that I wrote yesterday), and is just over 26,000 words now.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the two new Ms. Magazine blogs, which are struggling to get on their feet. One is by Eleanor Smeal, a former president of NOW, and currently president of the Feminist Majority Foundation, I think, whose commentary reads like press releases straight out of Feminist Party Headquarters. The other is by Carol Ann Leif, a feminist comic, and is subtitled, “Who says feminists don’t have a sense of humor?” I must admit, she did make me laugh, just once, with her September 22 post, where she compared Ted Kennedy in the John Roberts hearings to Superman–while conservative bloggers were reporting that Kennedy was so incoherent that he appeared to be ill.
Anyway, neither of them writes regularly yet, despite being headlined and enthusiastically advertised on the Ms. Magazine web site. The only entertainment value from them so far has been in waiting to see how long it will be before they post again.
