The Day after Thanksgiving

Well, I am very thankful for my husband.

We had a nice Thanksgiving–in the morning, we pulled out our old video game systems (Super Nintendo for my husband, Atari for me) and just played video games. For dinner, we went and ate with a family from our church, and had a good time there.

Our contribution to the meal was acorn squash, which I am inordinately fond of. I learned from my grandma how to bake it: slice squash in half lengthwise, scoop out seeds, place on baking sheet cut side up, put some butter and brown sugar where the seeds were. Bake at 350 until done, pour and scoop squash/butter/sugar out of the peel, and mash them. Season it with a little nutmeg.

Today it is snowing! There was less than an inch when I got up, but the snow is falling more heavily now–coming down in little clumps. This is the kind of winter weather that I am used to. I can see that I am going to have some shoveling to do, but I might as well wait until the snowfall slows down a little.
