Presenting: the worst analogy I’ve seen in quite a while. Summary: having to carry a baby to term is like being forced to build a bicycle by a random stranger. What the … ? The writer implies that pro-lifers are itching to go around begetting progeny through rape. Also, there’s the ridiculous assertion that what’s growing in the womb is just “parts”, and not a baby or a little person or anything. (The Humanity Fairy only comes by after the birth, dontcha know.)

Another thing to note is the role of the Patriarchy in this little story, because something is missing. Let me do a little rewriting (in italics):

A man drives onto your lot and dumps a bunch of parts onto your dock — all the parts that go into a bicycle.

He says, “With your tools and my parts, we have all the elements to make a bicycle. Now, you are obligated to me to make the bicycle.”

Only then does he notice that you have a heavy wrench in your hand, and that you have bigger biceps than he does. He looks over and sees your husband, another burly machinist, standing in the doorway of your shop holding a three-foot length of bar stock. The man beats the fastest retreat you’ve ever seen, taking his pathetic bicycle parts with him. You and your husband go back inside and get back to work.
