Pregnant!

Yes, that would be me. Goodbye, old body. As Ingrid Trobisch said in The Joy of Being a Woman: “Every woman has to learn anew in every phase of her life to understand what happens in her body biologically and to live in harmony with herself.” Well….ok….hello, bigger boobs. MFH isn’t having any problems accepting my new body; he can hardly keep his hands off it.

Morning sickness hasn’t been too bad so far. My first pregnancy tests were negative, so I sailed through the first weeks in ignorance. Then I retested, found out I was pregnant, and threw up the very next morning. Also, I was already eating small, frequent meals, which helps a lot. Fatigue has been more of a problem. I am in bed before 9 pm most nights. Some days I need a long nap.

Things I’ve craved so far: chili with meat and beans (beans give MFH migraines so we don’t usually have them), creamy things like coconut cream pie and milkshakes, fruit and juice, pork and beans. MFH has been helpful in getting me the things I’m craving, even making a special trip to Cafe Latte for pie. Except that later on he forgot to get pork and beans (I’m still craving them).

I now have a super-enhanced sense of smell, to the point of putting a moratorium on having ground beef in our house; the smell of it cooking is now the Grossest Thing Ever to me. Unfortunately, this came after MFH had planned a taco meal for Bible study last weekend, with us providing the taco meat. Lighting candles helped a lot with the smell.

I figure the baby is due in mid-October. Here is MFH’s parallel announcement.

Like Sallie at Two Talent Living, I think that maternity clothes are horrible. Maternity pants especially. I am going to sew myself a couple of dresses, which won’t be easy, because maternity dress patterns are nearly as bad.
