Kitty wants OUT!!!
Lately our indoor cat has been absolutely desperate to get outdoors. If I’m anywhere near the door, she’ll sit at it and wail. We’ve taken her out in the yard in her cat harness a few times–she is so eager to get outside that she will put up with the humiliation of the harness and leash. She doesn’t understand, though, why we won’t let her investigate the neighbors’ yards. Also, she’s getting good at slipping out the door when we go in and out. She got past MFH twice without him noticing the other day. Both times he found her by the doorstep, nibbling on the grass.
Finally, yesterday I let her out on her own. She spent some time doing the usual rolling on the ground and plant-nibbling, then she disappeared. Then I started worrying about how she would recognize our yard if she even found her way back. After a while, though, I spotted her prowling along the alley, and I went out and got her. She followed me back to the house willingly, but I had to drag her inside. She seemed like she had a good time exploring, but also a little stressed. As far as I know, she’s been an indoor cat her whole life.
