Farm Share

We decided to go ahead and buy a half-share in a local organic farm for the season. MFH can explain the whole community-supported agriculture thing better than I can; basically we get a box of vegetables from the farm every week, with the contents varying depending on what’s ready for harvest, and the farmer gets money. I picked up our first box yesterday; now we have a fridge full of greens, plus a few other things. We’ll probably give away the radishes, since neither of us likes them. The challenge is to eat everything before the next box comes. Plus we have our tiny garden. MFH has been nursing his tomato plants along, and he planted some squash seeds that were sprouting in the compost. (Not sure how that will turn out.) Our raspberries are looking very dry, and we’ve started watering them.

Anyway, last night MFH made a dish from spinach, pasta, and ricotta cheese that was very good, and I had a delicious salad for lunch. The freshness of the greens reminded me of when I used to go out into my grandma’s oversized garden and graze.
