We stopped at a yard sale Saturday while taking the scenic route home from our midwife appointment–one of those yard sales with lots of furniture, the kind I’m most likely to stop at. I found a sturdy oak two-drawer chest with lots of “character” for $10, and MFH found a magnetic tape recorder.

Later in the day, we went to the thrift store, and I found a maternity swimsuit. It was in with the regular swimsuits, rather than in the maternity section, so diligence in the hunt paid off. This store doesn’t have dressing rooms, but it does have yardsticks attached to the racks, and I know my measurements, so I measured the swimsuits to see which would fit. MFH bought a Radio Flyer wagon that was in good shape.

Yesterday, MFH spotted some shelves that a neighbor was getting rid of, and now we have two new bookshelves. We’re pretty much at the Furniture Saturation Point now, but for us there’s no such thing as too many bookshelves.

If we were smart, we’d get in touch with our neighbors down the alley–every week they throw away some baby stuff. Last week it was a crib, this week it is a baby swing. We’ve already had a crib and two changing tables given to us, though. The main thing we still need is a quiet rocker.
