Last night we got another 26-cent goldfish to replace Mr. Fish; I kept walking past our empty fish tank and expecting to see Mr. Fish there doing his “Feed me!” dance. The new one is bigger, and, I suspect, not nearly as smart. Mr. Fish would blow bubbles at the surface to get our attention, and he would wait for me to set the fish flakes canister down before he’d go looking for his food.

Afterward, we went to see “X-men: The Last Stand” at the cheap theater. It was better than I thought it would be, from the reviews I’d read.

I’ve been reading some back issues of Seed magazine (”Science is culture!”) off and on–somehow my dad, of all people, got on their mailing list. The magazine is a bit too preachy about evolution and global warming and what I guess you could call scientific utopianism. It tries very hard to be hip, too, which amuses me because I gave up trying to be cool a long time ago.
