Book Meme

Mommy Life is doing a kind of open tagging for this book meme, so here I go:

1. One book that changed your life: The Joy of Being a Woman, by Ingrid Trobisch, which kind of connects the physical and spiritual aspects of being a woman. It is indeed a joyful book; I wouldn’t be where I am now if I hadn’t read it.

2. One book that you’ve read more than once: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, by Judi and Ron Barret, which I’ve had since kindergarten, about a country where all the food comes from the sky. Wonderfully detailed pictures.

3. One book you’d want on a desert island: The Bible, obviously. Probably also at least one Reader’s Digest book of tidbits, like Strange Stories, Amazing Facts.

4. One book that made you laugh: Dave Barry Slept Here, by Dave Barry. Pretty much anything by Dave Barry. Also, some of Gordon Korman’s books, like The Twinkie Squad.

5. One book that made you cry: Tired of Trying to Measure Up, Jeff van Vonderen. One of the books I went through during counseling, it has a lot about accepting God’s grace instead of cycling between trying harder and giving up.

6. One book that you wish had been written: Basic Economics for Feminists, by Thomas Sowell. Feminists don’t seem to have a very good grasp of economics, and no one explains economics better than Thomas Sowell.

7. One book you wish had never been written: any of the Gnostic gospels.

8. One book you’re currently reading: The Allure of Hope, by Jan Meyers, about keeping the feminine heart open and tender.

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: A Pattern Language, by Alexander et al. Has to do with describing architectural space. Need to get hold of a copy from the university library sometime.

Since I have no one in particular to tag, feel free to tag yourself.
