I forgot to mention that one thing I always make sure to get at the Minnesota State Fair is a Star Tribune map-on-a-stick. Not for navigating the fairgrounds, really, but as a substitute for a dustpan. The map-on-a-stick gets a closer edge to the floor than a regular dustpan, and it easily lasts a whole year, as long as you don’t get it wet. It is a little small, though, so I usually use a whisk broom to sweep up the dirt pile.
