Work vs. Real Work
I’m finding it hard to keep my nose to the grindstone for the last couple weeks of (paying, at-home) work before maternity leave. Especially today, other things took precedence. I was up early and got some housework done, did a lot of reading about posterior presentation and its implications for labor (the baby has been head down for weeks, but in an ABA presentation: Anything But Anterior), and then felt like I needed a long walk. I used to take a walk every day, but really haven’t done that this year, for a combination of reasons. Anyway, I walked all the way to the park and worked out some things; emotionally and spiritually preparing for labor and motherhood, I guess. We’re about to the point where the baby could come at any time.
Also, I split a cheddarwurst with the cat for lunch–we ran out of canned food about a week ago, and she’s finished up the last of our freezer-burned meat this morning. She gets whiny if she doesn’t get something resembling real meat on a regular basis. (Kitty says, “Cheddarwurst is not an acceptable substitute for canned food!” She didn’t eat much of it.)
Then I had a long nap, which was good since I woke up very early this morning. By the time I woke up, it was time to go pick up our farm share vegetables. I had trouble walking at first, because of stiffness, but it wore off.
Kitty was happy to discover that I bought her canned food while I was out and about, but she seems to expect extra helpings, to make up for the past week of deprivation.
MFH got home before I did, and I found him in bed with a migraine. He’s going tomorrow to get his head examined, because he’s been having migraines more often than he used to.
Meanwhile, the dishes had been soaking in the sink all day. I changed the water, started dinner, and eventually got them all washed.
I think the next thing I am going to do is go play Katamari Damacy (a video game). MFH got it for our anniversary, and we both like it a lot. The basic idea of the game is to roll a ball around a messy room; objects smaller than the ball will stick to it. The goal is to grow the ball to a given diameter before time runs out.
