It’s a good thing no one asked me that five years ago, because I’d have gotten it all wrong. The other night I dreamed that I was in a group of people talking about what had gone on in our lives since college. I woke up about halfway through telling my story, but kept on thinking about it. My past five years have been full of twists, turns, obstacles, surprises, and leaps of faith. Now I’m in a good place, but not at all what I expected five years ago: living in a different state, happily married to a guy that I was definitely never going to marry, about to have our first child, occasionally taking graduate-level computer science classes for fun, and working in an industry and field that I didn’t even know existed.
