My Quiet Corner has a good post on the role that TV tends to take on in the home. We have been far too busy to watch TV lately, or even DVDs. For much of grad school, I lived without one.

One thing I noticed on our last vacation, where we mostly watched the Food Network, is how odd the people on TV look when you’ve been away from TV for a while. They all talk too loud and too fast. If it’s a commercial, they show so much enthusiasm for the product that they look downright manic. Some of these were actually creeping me out and setting off my psycho-meter. Let alone any of the crime/forensics shows on nowadays. Ick.
