Advent

I made an Advent calendar for us, using some things from the local surplus store and Walmart, plus some things I scavenged from around the house. I made a list of elements of the Christmas story, along with some of Jesus’ titles, and found a little object to represent each one. I improvised where necessary: leftover Fourth-of-July sparklers “from the Chinese wise man” are standing in for frankincense this year. MFH is lending me a cork board to display the objects.

December 1’s object is a scroll, representing the prophecies that foretold the coming of the Messiah. Leftover parchment paper tied with braided embroidery floss.

December 2’s object is a pair of angel wings, from the crafty wood scraps at the surplus store, representing the angelic messages to Mary and Joseph about the son they were going to be given.
