Crazy

Things have been just crazy around here. First, our landlord was having five windows replaced, so we had to move a lot of things out of the way, and then clear out of the house for a day. The worst thing to move was our kitchen shelving. I had to box up half our kitchen stuff and haul it down to the basement.

Then, I had a work deadline coming up, and worked four hours on a Saturday. I really prefer to keep Saturdays for “working for myself”. That evening for a break we went to the Salvation Army and discovered a sofa set that we really liked. So we raided the household cash envelopes and bought it, without knowing how we were going to haul the sofa home.

Sunday we tried to rest.

Monday, I found out that the somewhat arbitrary work deadline had turned into a scheduled in-house presentation: oh, great.

Later, we learned that our friend from church that we had asked to help us move the sofa wasn’t able to help. We decided to go anyway, at the last minute, and at least pick up the chair. In the parking lot at the Salvation Army, a guy with a pickup truck asked us for a jump start, and MFH was quick enough to barter a jump start for sofa hauling. There were a few slight complications on the way to our house, but in the end it all worked out to mutual advantage. So God provided that for us.

Then I had my work deadline coming up, and was working hard, with a baby that was seriously teething and having the worst diaper rash of her life and learning how to climb up onto the table on my hands, and a husband who was on a filming schedule and working late every night. So I spent a lot of time as GrrrMom.

By Wednesday, I had mostly pulled my project together, and was prepared to meet and present it. But I had a hard time sleeping, and then overslept the next morning (didn’t help that MFH turned off the alarm before it went off) and was late to the meeting. When I got there, someone else was doing the presentation and not very well. I might as well have stayed home and phoned in. After all my hard work, it was very disappointing to have it presented with all its flaws showing. But my work is more a calling than a career at this point, and Jesus knows how much I put into it.

Since I burned up all my work hours and then some preparing for the presentation, I had the rest of the week off. Still had the teething baby with the diaper rash, though.

We are still only up to December 20 on our Advent calendar.
