“I need a post! I need a pencil!” — every time I go to my writing desk, she wants a Post-It note to write on.
“No grandma. Talking to B! So, B…[babbling on with a long, involved story]” — OLC was talking on her play phone, and I asked her if she was calling [...]

I hung up a row of pegs in the entryway, for hanging up our coats. It’s amazing what a difference having four little pegs makes!

Though I must admit that our present apartment is the quietest one I’ve ever lived in. Most of the noise we get is from the one of the “elephants” upstairs playing his [...]

Some post-election numbers

From the Minnesota unofficial election results:
John McCain 44%
Barack Obama 54%
Margin between Obama and McCain: 297890 votes
Votes for on-ballot third party candidates: 52079 votes (1.8%)
Write-in votes: hard to tell from the table, but looks like at least 9500 (probably not all tabulated yet)

Thanks to MaxedOutMama for the link to this article:
House Democrats Contemplate Abolishing 401(k) Tax Breaks. Which means either taxing contributions, or interest and dividends. Also, there’s a little proposal mentioned about making retirement contributions into a government-administered account mandatory. Never mind if you want to focus on paying off [...]

Thank God, the election is over

I watched some of the election coverage on CBS last night. Katie Couric and company were certainly very eager to call it for Obama early on. I had to keep putting my skepticism filter back on. Also amusing, as the night went on, was the repeated comment of “Look how well Obama [...]
