Thank God, the election is over
I watched some of the election coverage on CBS last night. Katie Couric and company were certainly very eager to call it for Obama early on. I had to keep putting my skepticism filter back on. Also amusing, as the night went on, was the repeated comment of “Look how well Obama did among the white working-class voters!”–like they just couldn’t believe that non-rich white people would vote for a black candidate. Obama’s race did not factor into why I didn’t vote for him–my only race-based votes were for the local judicial races, where I didn’t know anything about the candidates, and voted for the ones with the most Scandinavian-sounding names.
I am not too sad about the election results. Yet, anyway. I did end up voting third party for president, and I’m glad I did. The Republicans at the national level need to get their act together, and with the Democrats in control, they just might do it.
When I do start being upset about living under a Democratic President, I’ve got John 16:33 and all three Lord of the Rings movies to boost my courage.
