End of the year
We had a good Christmas. We finished our Advent calendar in a more timely fashion this year. I enjoyed reading books about Baby Jesus with OLC. The Christmas presents were on a more modest scale this year. MFH gave me a web design book and some chocolate. He made a wooden puzzle for OLC at the last minute. I gave her a book (that I just noticed that we already owned in a different edition!), a china demitasse cup and saucer from the antique store, another little china plate, a little knitted dishcloth for washing her tea set, and some Smarties. Then my parents and sister came over for a few days and we had a good time with them. OLC got pretty well showered with presents from all the relatives. Her aunt gave her a beanbag chair, which was a big hit. OLC has already spent hours jumping from the armchair onto it.
Now, it is Back to Nesting. I’ve gone through all the papers from 2008 already. Usually I wait until tax time. Before Christmas, I completely reorganized my half of the bedroom closet and sorted through all the baby and toddler clothes and the cloth diapers and baby blankets. I did a major scrap lumber purge; we will not be needing to build new furniture anytime soon (though I did add some backing plywood to a bookshelf and OLC’s toy shelf). Plus I did a lot of general decluttering–we got rid of at least four boxes and two grocery bags full, not counting the things that I just threw out.
