Weekly routine

This is my housework routine:

Sunday: Worship and rest. If I do any housework to make the day more restful for myself, I give myself permission to cut corners (for example, wash the dishes but skip the pots and pans).

Monday: Recombobulate the whole apartment after taking Sunday off. Wash the dishes, clean the litter box, take out the garbage and recycling, vacuum, and meal plan for the week.

Tuesday: Laundry day. Lately I have been washing only the whites and cloth baby wipes in the apartment laundry room, and doing the rest by hand in the tub with a plunger. I bought an antique wringer, which I have named The Exercise Machine, and it works well for wringing most things. (It will bend snaps on baby clothes for sure, and may break buttons. Very bulky items like sweatshirts are easier to wring by hand. But it works great on towels.) Hang everything up to dry on racks and hangers. Since I’m doing so much by hand, I keep my laundry day early in the week, when I am still rested up from the Sabbath.

Wednesday: Maintenance, rest, and projects. Usually by the middle of the week, we are starting to feel the effects of the germs we picked up over the weekend. So housework is light, and if I have the energy, I work on bigger projects that aren’t on the regular list.

Thursday: Go to the bank if needed, dust, put the laundry away. Another light housework day.

Friday: Similar to Monday–cleaning up after a couple days of doing less, and preparing for the weekend.

Saturday: Projects around the apartment, grocery shopping, errands, and preparing for Sabbath. Plan meals for the weekend, especially for Sunday dinner which we usually pack and eat at church (so OLC can eat before she falls asleep on the long ride home).
