The new 35W bridge (aka “the safest bridge in Minnesota — now”, according to MFH) has some of the most unevenly-colored concrete that I’ve ever seen on a road. Under some combinations of weather and light conditions, the white lane markers blend into the background and are practically invisible. (The white paint has just about the same reflectance as the concrete when it’s wet.) But someone had the bright idea of adding black lines, with a different texture than the concrete road surface. This was done a few months ago, and nearly every time we’ve driven through there since, the black markings were easier to see than the white ones.
