A Circle of Quiet, by Madeleine L’Engle. Learned that she felt like a failure as a writer all through her thirties: couldn’t get anything published, terribly busy with children and family responsibilities, unable to justify to others the hours that she did spend writing, yet she just couldn’t not write.
