The big little guy
We took TLG for his two-month checkup (actually he is almost three months old). He is over 15 lbs now–he is following the 85th percentile for weight on the WHO Growth Charts (the best growth charts to use for breastfed babies; formula-fed babies have a different growth trajectory). No wonder it is getting harder and harder to carry him around on my forearm! His head circumference is up in the 90s, percentile-wise. He is very strong, and can roll from back to stomach sometimes now. Also, he still has a strong stepping reflex when he feels something under his feet, and his favorite game now is for me to support him while he “walks right up Mom”. Sometimes this gets a laugh out of him. Also, I can put him on his back next to a wall or the fridge, and he will march away for a fairly long time. I think he is hitting little milestones sooner than OLC did. She figured out how to use her hands right at three months, and he is already doing that. He still has all his hair, like OLC did, and it makes him look a lot older than he is.
I asked for Vaccine Information Statements* this time, to look over before we start giving him any shots. It’s Federal law that they are supposed to give you these before every dose of certain vaccines, but my doctor’s office hasn’t been. Maybe they did once, when we started vaccinating OLC, but that was it. We’ve been selectively vaccinating OLC, and probably will do the same with her brother.
I like our doctor–we have a family practice doctor that we all go to–but he always seems a lot more rushed than he would like to be, and I feel sorry for him because he looks like he’s about ten years behind on sleep. So I don’t argue with him about relative risks of vaccinating vs. not vaccinating nearly as much as I’d like to.
