Went shopping for a dish drainer mat
The old one was falling to pieces. Ran all over the mall, none of the department stores had any. I designed a simple one made of sheet metal in my head as I was walking. The kitchen store had a one-piece drainer that was desperately ugly–gray and translucent white plastic. Target only had ones in black and white and too small; no good, because my dish drainer is a 1970’s shade of yellow, and large. I wanted a color that would go with it.
So I ended up in the plastic tote section, and bought a bright green one. I brought it home and cut the lid on one edge, and drilled a few small holes where I wanted the water to go out. (The plastic was a little hard to cut; it cracked when I didn’t want it to.) I am happy with it, it cost less than a real mat, has a pretty color, and came with a free “laundry basket”.
