…I would like to point out that the per diem allowance for legislators in Minnesota is $96 per day for senators; $77 per day for representatives. This is for miscellaneous living expenses; salary, housing costs, and travel are compensated for by other funds.

Compare that to the child care reimbursement for stay-at-home moms called in for jury duty….$40 per day, $50 if the child care is licensed, regardless of the number of children. Where are the DFL’ers that squawk about living wages when you need them??

I would also like to point out that both per diem amounts exceed our weekly grocery budget. I begin to see where all the state income and sales taxes go, besides that stupid new stadium.

Now that I can look forward to two weeks of relative freedom to write scathing letters to elected officials, I intend to bring this matter to their attention, over and over and over….
