Crazy

Things have been just crazy around here. First, our landlord was having five windows replaced, so we had to move a lot of things out of the way, and then clear out of the house for a day. The worst thing to move was our kitchen shelving. I had to box up […]

Caught up

I am mostly caught up on post-holiday things now, and starting to make real progress again. This week I’ve been able to keep up with all the housework, and mostly keep up with work, but I’m really tiring myself out in the process. The superwoman routine is not sustainable. Someone at church […]

Regaining our footing

My grandma died about 12 hours after we got back home from our trip to Michigan. So out we went again. This time we flew, only affordable because of the bereavement fare (Northwest: 70% discount, must stay over a Saturday, have to become a WorldPerks member, their software for signing up to […]

Some Christmas vacation highlights and observations

We all got our faces licked by MFH’s sister’s pit bull–a good dog, but overflowing with energy.
I saw my grandma (alive) for probably the last time.
OLC learned how to press the buttons on a toy fire engine to make the lights and siren turn on. She later applied this new skill to […]

Shudder

I am having the worst case of the “creeping cruddies” ever lately. By which I mean that I see crumbs and dust and little specks everywhere, and feel compelled to clean them up. But they just keep coming back, because OLC is a very efficient crumb generator now.

OLC continues to develop at light speed. This weekend, she learned to pull things on over her head. I came away from the computer, and found that she had festooned herself with….uh….unmentionables from the laundry basket. She was standing in front of the mirror admiring her work.
She also has learned a little […]

Something new every day

OLC has turned the corner to toddlerhood; she can push herself up into a stand, and take a few steps as she flings herself toward the nearest person or piece of furniture. She can also climb down the stairs by herself now. She does endless rounds of climbing onto and off of our […]

Stumbles

Saturday we were actually starting to feel better, after a week of two of being sick and miserable, and we were getting things done around the house. We took a break to go out to eat, and then on the way back to the car I twisted my ankle, fell, and dropped OLC. […]

Sick, sick, sick

We are all sick, have been fighting off a virus or two since last week. MFH did a half day of work yesterday, but has been home other than that. Yesterday was fun, because he and I both woke up with voices pitched about half an octave lower than normal. I could […]

First birthday

Well, OLC celebrated turning one year old this week. She and I went to the zoo, and she laughed at the monkeys and the fish. We gave her her first cake and ice cream–she licked the frosting off and tossed the cake away. She had a hard time with the ice cream […]
