We are in Michigan at my wife’s family for a family funeral. It turns out her uncle has a full milling setup in his basement, with a wood lathe and a metal lathe. (And half a dozen other tools and toys besides)
My two oldest boys have been watching a lot of milling and lathe work YouTube videos, but we have neither of those tools. They have been having a lot of fun at their great uncle’s house today making things. I made a largish pawn on the wood lathe, and the boys made a brass top, a wooden box, a toy gun, a fishing lure, and a fishing rod handle. Also I gave Darryl some measurements and he machined a baseplate to mount my camera to my old enlarger stand so I can use it as a copy stand.
