What I am up to

Professionally: since college, I’ve worked as a writer, as an original ASP.NET developer, as a Director and Editor making computer based training videos, developed and maintained an entire render farm, then pivoted to native iOS and Android app development, as well as all manner of custom software, including VR and AR applications and full custom web applications.

Today I work as a Senior Software Engineer for West Shore Home, doing whatever sort of digital product things they need. My current focus is working on standalone iOS apps using .NET MAUI, as well as organizing a number of AppSec initiatives.

Personally: I have children. They take up an incredible amount of time.

Hobbies: most of my hobbies are now “things I’ve gotten into because a kid has shown an interest.” Like 3D printing and robotics. I have a garden, mostly peppers, tomatoes, and dry beans. I used to do various fun hobby electronics things, but my time is eaten up so I don’t get to do that as much as I like. Playing music is again, something I want to do more of but my guitar broke (headstock snapped off) and I haven’t had a chance to fix it.

Photography: photography used to be my big hobby. Analog, digital, the whole thing. Around end of summer last year, a family member had a health scare and I was laser focused on that (obviously). That happened right after we had gone on vacation and gone camping so I had 5-6 thousand photos that needed to be edited. And the whole situation completely disrupted my workflow. I now have tens of thousands of photos across two computers and three hard drives and it’s hard to know even where I left off, let alone where to begin. On top of that, I got a modern cell phone with a camera that is, quite frankly, good enough.

That said, I can still take a mean photo.
